Course Info:
Address: The Racecourse, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath
Description: Kilbeggan Racecourse is a horse racing venue in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, Ireland. The first recording of racing in the Kilbeggan area was in March 1840. The course is located 13 miles from the nearest, larger town of Mullingar and 57 miles from the capital city of Dublin.
As popular a racing venue as there is in the country, Kilbeggan is very much a summer track and the valuable Midlands National Handicap Chase is a recognised trial for the Galway Plate and other major festival races.

The vast majority of race meetings are held in the evening time which only adds to the attraction of the course which is located close to the town of Kilbeggan, itself a popular tourist venue in County Westmeath.
History: A sharp, right-handed round track of around nine furlongs in extent. It is undulating with a particularly sharp turn after the second-last fence and though the run-in of around 300 yards is uphill this is no track for a long-striding horse or a staying type. There are six fences to a circuit of the chase track, which is laid out on the outside of the hurdles track.
The presence of the M6 motorway means that the course is reachable from Dublin in approximately 1 hour. The race meetings in Kilbeggan begin in mid May and finish in mid September.
The course is a right-handed, undulating course of one mile and one furlong with an uphill run to the finish.
